IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas, participated in a panel organised by Turkey-EU Association (TURABDER) entitled “Turkey-EU Relations in the light of the Latest Geopolitical Developments”, on 24 March 2018 in Sakarya, as a panelist. At the panel, in which TURABDER President Prof. Gül Günver Turan made the opening speech, Bilgi University academic member and President of International Political Science Association (IPSA) Prof. İlter Turan, Assoc. Prof. Deniz Şenol Sert from Özyeğin University, Emre Gönen from Bilgi University, TURABDER Sakarya Branch President Adv. Ülker Önder Döker participated as panelists.

In her speech, IKV Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas evaluated the impact of the recent developments between Turkey and the EU on the economy. While touching upon the transformative role the Customs Union played in the Turkish economy and industry, Assoc. Prof. Nas underscored the possible gains that would come forth with the modernisation of the Customs Union. Lastly, Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Nas highlighted that the economic transformation cannot be handled independently from the political reforms.
